Iran targets breeding over 150m chicks to meet domestic need, official says
An official with the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture announced that the country has set a target to raise some 152 million chicks as part a national drive to boost the county’s overall production and meet the domestic need.
“In February, we had 152 million chicks, which is unprecedented in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran. With this number of chicks, we will be able to supply the chicken market and meet our domestic need,” Masoud Amrollahi, the director general of the Office of Inspection and Supervision of Basic Goods at the Ministry of Agriculture, said.
He added, “In addition to meeting the domestic market and strategic reserves, we can also be an exporter of chicken meat in the Middle East.”
