Iran seeking to diversify fodder options better suited to arid conditions

TEHRAN – Iran is taking steps to enhance its feed self-sufficiency by shifting towards drought-resistant and salt-tolerant fodder crops.
This move aims to reduce reliance on costly imported feed, such as soybean meal and corn, while simultaneously conserving water resources in a region grappling with chronic water scarcity.
The Ministry of Agriculture is spearheading this initiative, implementing a rigorous grading system for feed mills to ensure the production of high-quality feed. Utilizing advanced technology, the ministry has certified over 60% of feed mills within the past two years.
