Iran registers surge in chicken exports

Tehran – Iran's poultry industry has seen a significant surge in exports, reaching 33,000 tons so far this year, according to the Deputy Chairman of the Poultry Farmers Union.
Despite increased chick placement and government support programs aimed at stabilizing the market, oversupply remains a significant challenge, Seyed Sadr-al-Din Azimi said.
He noted that while these measures have been implemented, they have not fully addressed the market imbalance.
To address this issue, the government has issued export licenses for 5,000 tons of chicken, with a portion already shipped to international markets, he said.
Recognizing the need for a more sustainable export strategy, Azimi called for a minimum monthly export quota of 10,000 tons to stabilize the domestic market and maximize the industry's export potential.
While acknowledging the challenges faced by poultry farmers, including price fluctuations and the potential unintended consequences of some government support programs, Azimi expressed optimism about the future of the industry.
He emphasized the growing production capacity and the government's commitment to supporting exports as key factors driving the industry's growth.
