Iran produces sufficient supply of avian flu vaccine

Tehran – As part of the government's efforts to fight the highly pathogenic avian influenza, Iran has produced more than enough vaccine, a senior official says.
Alireza Rafieepour, head of Iran Veterinary Organization, said that the country has a sufficient supply of avian influenza vaccines.
“To date, we have not encountered any dangerous outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in industrial or rural units. Only a few isolated cases have been observed in wildlife and rural poultry, which we have successfully managed,” he said.
The official added that Iran has a comprehensive national program in place to combat and control avian influenza, which has been instrumental in preventing widespread outbreaks.
