Iran produces 300m saplings

The Forests, Rangelands, and Watershed Management Organization has managed to produce about 300 million saplings in the first year of the implementation of the One Billion Tree Planting Project, Abbas-Ali Nobakht, head of the FRWMO, has said.
As part of the major campaign to plant one billion trees in four years, 250 million trees should be planted annually, IRIB quoted Nobakht as saying.
He added that 62 million of these seedlings were produced by the Horticulture Department of the Agriculture Organization and 237 million were also produced with the help of people and the private and public sectors.
The Organization is determined to produce and plant one billion saplings with the participation of people benefiting from capacities that exist in the country, Nobakht said.
The expansion of the country's green space and paying more attention to natural resources and the environment is not a new issue. The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the President, and the Minister of Agriculture have always emphasized the need to promote the issue of tree planting and sapling planting.
