Tehran – Iran has produced 164 million seedlings as part of its major One Billion Tree Planting Project since the start of the Iranian calendar year, a report says. 

 

The project, endorsed by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, aims to enhance the country's forest cover and combat desertification in a period of 5 years, the official website of the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture reported. 

 

This year marks the second phase of the initiative, demonstrating a continued commitment to environmental sustainability.

 

According to the project's executive, nearly 87 million seedlings have been allocated to the public sector, while the private sector is contributing the remaining portion.
