Iran mushroom exports soar amid rising production

Tehran - Iranian mushroom exports have surged in the first half of the year, reaching between 1,000 and 1,500 tons, according to the Secretary of the Mushroom Growers Association.

The strong growth is attributed to increased domestic production, driven by favorable weather conditions and expanded cultivation capacity.

Nima Baqbani, a representative from the association, highlighted that daily mushroom supply in Iran currently stands at 600 to 650 tons. “As temperatures drop and mushroom farms operate at full capacity, production is expected to increase by 35 to 40 percent.”

By October, monthly production is projected to reach between 850 and 900 tons, leading to a corresponding increase in daily distribution.

In terms of pricing, Baqbani said that wholesale prices for mushrooms at farms range from 100,000 to 120,000 Tomans per kilogram, while retail prices are between 110,000 and 140,000 Tomans.

Looking ahead, the association anticipates a further boost in exports during the colder months as demand rises. While exports typically decline during the hot season due to consumer preferences in target markets, the overall trend remains positive.

The primary destinations for Iranian mushroom exports include countries in the Persian Gulf region, such as Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, and Turkmenistan.
