Iran remains a global leader in saffron exports, according to the country's National Saffron Council (NSC).

Gholamreza Miri, Vice Chairman of the NSC, highlighted Iran's annual export of 200 tons of high-quality saffron, prized by both domestic and international customers.

While global saffron consumption sits around 320 tons annually, Iran's production and export prowess are undeniable, he said.

This news comes on the heels of a previous announcement by the Iranian Saffron Exporters and Sellers Union, which reported a 28% surge in saffron exports during the first eight months of the past Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2023 - February 22, 2024).
