Iran launches Guar crop farming in South Khorasan to combat water shortages
South Khorasan - The Agricultural Organization in Qaenat, South Khorasan province, has introduced the cultivation of guar in the fields of the Eslamabad Agricultural Joint Stock Company as a natural green manure to enhance soil quality and resilience against drought.
Mr. Ramezani, director of the organization, said the initiative aims to improve soil fertility while addressing the region’s pressing climate challenges. “Guar, an annual herbaceous plant with deep roots, thrives in arid conditions and is valued globally for its gum, which serves as a versatile hydrocolloid in numerous industries.”
He described the move as a significant step toward sustainable agriculture and long-term improvement of soil conditions in South Khorasan Province.
