Iran inaugurates first plasma-based dried fruit sanitization plant

Tehran - A significant milestone in Iran’s agricultural technology landscape was achieved with the inauguration of the nation’s first plasma-based dried fruit sanitization and processing plant.

The facility, situated in Rafsanjan, was officially opened by Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri and Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Mohammad Eslami.

Designed to process up to three tons of produce per hour, the plant is poised to make a substantial contribution to Iran’s agricultural output. In its initial phase, it will annually process approximately 6,000 tons of dried fruits, including pistachios, almonds, peanuts, as well as grains such as corn, cereals, oilseeds, and legumes.

The primary goal of this innovative technology is to enhance food safety and elevate the quality of agricultural products. By utilizing plasma technology, the plant aims to eliminate contaminants and pathogens, ensuring that the processed products meet stringent hygiene and quality standards.

This advancement is expected to bolster Iran’s agricultural industry, stimulate exports, and solidify the country’s position in the global food market.
