Iran honey exports reach $5.6 million annually

Tehran - Iran's beekeeping industry continues to thrive, with the country exporting a significant quantity of high-quality honey in the past year.
According to Iran’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Livestock Productions Affairs Mohammad Ebrahim Hassannejad, the country exported 1,469 tons of honey valued at $5.6 million during the Iranian calendar year ending March 19, 2024
The deputy minister highlighted the growing interest in beekeeping among Iranian farmers, noting that the industry has seen a boom in production not only of honey but also of other valuable bee products like royal jelly, wax, propolis, pollen, and bee venom.
Iran's domestic honey production has also been impressive, with over 121,000 tons produced in the previous year. Additionally, the country has made significant strides in producing other bee products, including royal jelly, pollen, and propolis.
These figures solidify Iran's position as a global leader in the beekeeping industry. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) ranks Iran fourth in terms of bee colonies and third in honey production worldwide.
