Iran fish exports register 30 percent rise in first quarter

Tehran – Iran’s fish exports surged in the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-June 20), reaching a value of $53.3 million, a 30% increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the country exported 29,582 tons of fish during this period, a significant jump from the previous year’s 18,301 tons.
Overall fishery exports, including fish and other aquatic products, also saw substantial growth, reaching $121.4 million with a volume of 73,369 tons. This represents a 40% increase in weight year-on-year.
While the fisheries sector is experiencing growth, Iran also imported $72 million worth of fishery products, a 121% increase in weight compared to the previous year.
The country’s aquaculture industry has been highlighted as a model for the region, contributing to the overall growth of the fisheries sector.
