Tehran – In an effort to safeguard national food security, the Ministry of Agriculture has introduced a series of targeted measures to encourage poultry farmers to ramp up production, according to the Deputy Minister for Livestock Production Affairs.

 

Mohammad Ebrahim Hassan-Nejad said that ensuring adequate protein in household diets remains a top priority amid current economic and logistical challenges.

 

He added that a coordinated plan for distributing livestock feed has been put in place. “Feed will be supplied via provincial warehouses operated by the Livestock Affairs Support Company, aimed at stimulating chick placement - both broiler and layer - for the months ahead.”

 

To facilitate this, provincial branches of the Livestock Affairs Support Company are enabling poultry farmers to enter contracts for broiler meat production, offering a two-month deferred payment system for feed purchases. Moreover, licensed poultry farms with advanced infrastructure located in favorable regions may now exceed their permitted production capacity under the new guidelines, the deputy minister noted.

 

Inter-provincial coordination is also being strengthened to tackle localized challenges such as fuel shortages, Hassan-Nejad said.

 

“The Ministry has authorized the use of vacant poultry houses, originally designated for breeders, pullets, or other birds, for single-cycle broiler chick placement, provided strict biosecurity and health protocols are observed.”

 

Technical interventions include reducing the molting age of broiler breeder flocks to maximize productivity and ensure a steady supply of chicks. In parallel, feed distribution is being prioritized for facilities actively producing chicken meat and eggs to maintain production continuity, he said.

 

The deputy minister further referred to additional measures and said, “These measures include support strategies to preserve key breeder flocks, layer, broiler, and turkey, critical to sustaining the national supply chain. To assist producers with technical or system-related issues, specialized online task forces have also been established.”

 

“These coordinated steps are designed to not only address immediate needs but also stabilize poultry production for the months to come,” Hassan-Nejad said.
