Iran conducting genetic improvement research on Aryan Chicken breed, official says
Researchers at the Institute of Animal Science Research of Iran are conducting genetic improvement research on the Aryan chicken breed, according to the head of the institute.
"Iran is richer in genetic resources compared to some European countries. The Aryan chicken line, as one of these genetic resources, can be a long-term competitor to imported breeds,” Hassan Khamis-Abadi said.
We are doing research to genetically improve the Aryan chicken breed so that the Iranian market would grab a greater share, he added.
In order to achieve this goal - Khamis-Abadi explained- a series of research and activities are needed to improve the breed.
"Fortunately, a lot of good work has been done on the Aryan chicken so far, and we hope that the Aryan chicken will cover a major part of the market in the near future."
He further stated that the Ministry of Agriculture has special support plans to improve the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of Aryan chickens.
"In addition to the various sectors working on Aryan chicken, research on the development of this breed is the responsibility of the Institute of Animal Science Research, and its support is the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Livestock Support Company, and other organizations. These efforts are aimed at preserving this national treasure and finding its place in the market."
This highlights the importance of the Aryan chicken breed as a valuable genetic resource for Iran. With ongoing research and support, the Aryan chicken has the potential to become a major player in the domestic poultry market and reduce reliance on imported breeds.
