Iran's caviar exports saw a significant jump in the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-June 20), according to the director general of the Ministry of Agriculture's Office of Quality Improvement, Processing, and Aquatic Market.

The value of caviar exports increased by over 41% compared to the same period last year, Abbas Mokhtari said.

 

He added that this rise was accompanied by an 82% increase in export volume (weight) year-on-year, with Iran exporting 1,353 kilograms of caviar valued at $721,000 in the first quarter.

 

The country's fishery exports during the first quarter witnessed a growth of over 30% in value compared to the same period last year, the official added.

 

“The total export value reached $121.4 million, with the export volume exceeding 73,369 tons, reflecting a 40% increase year-on-year.”

 

These figures come after Iran's Customs Administration reported a 3% increase in total fishery exports for the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 19), exceeding $310 million. The weight of exported fishery products also saw a 12% increase year-on-year, reaching 149,000 metric tons. Shrimp exports, a key component of Iran's fishery exports, reached $98.5 million during the same period, but showed a 26% decrease in value compared to the previous year.
