Iran annual fishery exports stand at 310m dollars
Iran's fishery exports reached $310 million last year (ended on March 19), according to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
Last year’s exports showed a 3% increase compared to the previous year, the IRICA said in its report.
“The weight of exported fishery products in the last Iranian fiscal year was 149,000 metric tons, which shows a 12 percent increase compared to the previous year,” it added.
Shrimp was a major export, bringing in over $98 million, or 32% of the total value. Russia, the UAE, and China were the top buyers of Iranian shrimp.
Interestingly, Iran also imported some fish products, with a significant increase (over 100%) in both weight and value compared to the prior year. The UAE, Ghana, and Seychelles in Africa were the main sources of these imports.
