Iran agricultural exports top $6.2b
Iran's agricultural exports have reached new heights, surpassing $6.2 billion in the year ending March 19, 2024, according to the deputy director for planning and economic affairs at the Ministry of Agriculture.
Hamed Najafi attributed the success to effective planning, which resulted in over $2 billion worth of agricultural exports.
Citing data from the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), he highlighted a $1 billion rise in exports compared to the previous year (March 21, 2022 - March 19, 2023). Najafi further announced a $1 billion decrease in the value of agricultural imports during the same period.
This, combined with the export surge, translates to a $2 billion improvement in the trade balance for Iran's agricultural sector, as reported by IRNA.
This achievement comes on the heels of earlier announcements from Iran's House of Industry, Mine and Trade, which indicated a 20% year-on-year growth in the value of food and agricultural exports.
