Iran advances agricultural innovation with new crop varieties

Tehran – Iran has made significant strides in agricultural innovation, as highlighted by the 7th National Crop Variety Introduction Festival.
Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri announced the development of 89 new crop varieties by Iranian researchers.
Nouri emphasized the crucial role of improved seeds and new varieties in modern agriculture, stating, "In advanced agriculture, improved seeds and new varieties are essential inputs for increased production."
The Minister expressed optimism about achieving self-sufficiency in strategic crops by commercializing high-yielding and drought-resistant varieties.
The domestic production of basic seed varieties has yielded substantial benefits, with the Ministry of Agriculture realizing a one billion dollar saving. This achievement underscores Iran's commitment to sustainable and efficient agriculture, positioning the country as a leader in agricultural innovation.
