Minks – Iran and Belarus have agreed to strengthen cooperation in agricultural research, soil enrichment, technology transfer, and machinery development following talks between senior agricultural officials from both countries.

 

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Gholamreza Golmohammadi, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Head of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO), and Yuri Gorlov, Belarus’ Minister of Agriculture and Food.

 

A major outcome of the talks was an agreement to pursue a joint soil enrichment project involving AREEO and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, paving the way for a research cooperation memorandum aimed at improving soil productivity and promoting sustainable agriculture.

 

The two sides also discussed plans to establish a joint tractor and agricultural machinery manufacturing facility in Iran, which would support domestic production and facilitate the transfer of advanced technologies and technical expertise.

 

Other areas of cooperation included expanding agricultural trade through the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC), utilizing the Chabahar Free Trade Zone to access regional markets, and collaborating on the supply of agricultural inputs.

 

Both countries also agreed to enhance scientific cooperation through joint research initiatives in potatoes, oilseeds, and cereals.

 

The meeting concluded with a commitment to deepen strategic cooperation in agricultural research, technology, machinery, and trade, while Belarus reaffirmed its readiness to expand agricultural collaboration with Iran.
