Iran, Africa resolved to boost agricultural cooperation

During the recent 2nd Iran-Africa International Summit, Iran and Africa agreed to establish a joint committee on agricultural cooperation.

This initiative aims to leverage Iranian expertise to address agricultural challenges in Africa.

The committee launch involved representatives from Iran's Ministry of Agriculture's Water and Soil Deputy Office. Following a request from trade ministers of Niger and Central African Republic, Iranian officials presented the country's capabilities in various agricultural sectors.

Fariborz Abbasi, advisor to Iran's Agriculture Minister, along with an irrigation systems development project commissioner, delivered a report on Iranian experiences in both public and private water management practices.

Discussions also highlighted Iran's expertise in sustainable soil management, including soil science studies, creation of management maps, fertilizer production, and the use of biological soil modifiers. Iran expressed its commitment to collaborating with African countries on water and soil management projects.

The 2nd Iran-Africa International Summit, held in Tehran from April 26-29, brought together economy ministers from over 40 African nations. This summit signifies a growing focus on agricultural collaboration between Iran and Africa.
