IAEO plans to reduce 40m tons of agricultural waste

Tehran – The Iranian government has plans underway to reduce agricultural waste by 40 million tons using radiation technology, the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization announced.
"Radiation in the agricultural sector can lead to a reduction of 40 million tons of waste. It can also be effective in production and export processes,” Mohammad Eslami said.
He added that radiation can eliminate residual pests and toxins, which not only ensures public health but also guarantees the country's food security.
"We are at the forefront of producing 130 million tons of agricultural products," Eslami said.
"What we will do in the next few months is for a capacity of about half a million tons, for which we have created capacity with technology."
