Hamedan leads grape production far above global averages, official says
Hamedan - The head of the Hamedan Provincial Agriculture Organization said per capita grape production in the western province has reached 235 kilograms, well above Iran’s national average of 45 kilograms and the global average of about 10 kilograms, highlighting grapes as a strategic pillar of the regional economy.
Reza Bahramlou said that nearly 60 percent of the province’s grape output is produced in Malayer County, which is recognized as Iran’s main hub of viticulture and a prominent grape-producing region internationally.
He added that Hamedan also produces more than 40,000 tons of raisins annually, ranking third nationwide, with raisins playing a key role in the local economy.
Bahramlou further stated that the “Faraz” vineyard modernization project has been implemented on over 400 hectares across the province, including 250 hectares in Malayer.
"More than 60 percent of Hamedan’s vineyards - about 13,000 hectares out of 22,000 - are located in Malayer County."
