Gilan ranks 1st in grandparent generation chicken production

 

The head of the Gilan Agricultural Organization announced that northern Province ranks first in the country with 11 grandparent chicken breeding and production units.

Saleh Mohammadi said that the grandparent chicken breeding and production line in Gilan Province is operating with 305,000 birds.

"The total nominal capacity of the country is about 1.1 million birds, and Gilan Province accounts for 28% of the market share," he said.

"Gilan ranks first in the country in grandparent chicken production," he added. "Grandparent chickens have special biological characteristics and high genetic purity and are used as a basis for breeding and producing breeds."

The head of the Gilan Agricultural Organization, referring to the organization's plans to increase chicken production, said, "We are seeking to facilitate regulations and laws for issuing licenses and following up on the reform and process of work for grandparent broiler units in the province."

The grandparent generation in chicken farming refers to the adult birds that are used to produce the parent stock. Market types within this include the broiler market, which focuses on raising chickens for meat production. These birds are bred to grow quickly and have high meat yield.
