Fruit distribution for Nowruz to begin March 10th, official says

Tehran – The Central Organization for Rural Cooperatives of Iran has announced that the distribution of fruit for the Persian New Year (Nowruz) will commence on March 10th.

According to officials, strategic reserves of essential items such as potatoes, onions, and tomatoes are in favorable condition, with market interventions planned should any shortages arise.

Mohammad Reza Tala'i, Managing Director of the organization, reported that fruit stockpiling has more than tripled compared to the previous year, ensuring ample supply for the holiday season.

"Apples have been stored locally within the provinces," he explained, "while over 40% of the required oranges have already been distributed to provincial centers, with the remainder currently being shipped."

Regarding the vegetable market, Tala'i noted that reserves of potatoes, onions, and tomatoes are well-maintained. "We are closely monitoring market conditions and stand ready to intervene if necessary," he said, adding that recent action in the potato market had already contributed to price reductions.

The organization also highlighted the steady supply of dates during the holy month of Ramadan. According to Tala'i, between 60 and 70 tons of dates have been distributed through chain stores, fruit and vegetable markets, and rural bazaars since the beginning of the month, meeting consumer demand without disruption.
