Hormozgan – Bandar Lengeh – located in the southern province of Hormozgan - has posted strong export growth, earning more than USD 42 million from marine products in the first eight months of 2025, according to the director of the port city’s Agricultural Department.

 

Malek Ashtar-Bina reported notable expansion in the local processing and food industries, with raw-material absorption up 22% and production capacity up 8% over the past year.

 

“Bander Lengeh now hosts 34 licensed processing units, six of which began operating or entered trial production in the last year.”

 

Bina highlighted the strong export role of local cold-storage facilities, which ship fresh and frozen fish, shrimp, crab, and other marine products to the UAE, Kuwait, China, Malaysia, Thailand, and Russia.

 

“Exports reached nearly 26,000 tons in eight months—7% higher than last year—underscoring Bander Lengeh’s growing importance in Hormozgan’s food-value chain. Bina said further growth is expected as cold-storage and processing infrastructure expands.”

 

The Southern port city of Bandar Lengeh plays a key role in Iran's non-oil commodity exports as well as transit of goods.

 

The city which is also known as the 'pearl port' in the Persian Gulf is like the shining star which attracts tourists form the United Arab Emirates and other Persian Gulf Arab states.
