Agricultural self-sufficiency, a gateway to global markets, minister says

Tehran - The Minister of Agriculture emphasized the critical role of agricultural self-sufficiency in ensuring domestic food security and expanding Iran's presence in global markets.
During a meeting with Samad Hasanzadeh, head of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture, Gholamreza Nouri highlighted that achieving self-sufficiency would not only guarantee a stable domestic food supply but also enable various sectors of the agricultural industry to effectively compete in international markets.
To achieve this goal, he stressed the importance of enhanced collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Chamber of Commerce, pointing out that the agricultural sector possesses significant potential for both domestic market dominance and substantial export growth, contingent upon the development of robust infrastructure and supportive policies.
Furthermore, the Minister emphasized that agricultural exports have the capacity to stimulate domestic production, incentivize farmers to increase output and improve efficiency, and foster a more competitive and export-oriented agricultural sector.
