Agri products worth over 360m  dollars exported from East Azerbaijan province in one year

 

The head of the East Azerbaijan Agricultural Organization announced that over $360 million worth of agricultural products were exported from the province to more than 35 countries around the world last year.

According to IRNA, Akbar Fathi said that Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Russia, Afghanistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan were major export destinations of Iranian products.

"The export statistics show that agricultural exports in East Azerbaijan performed well in 2023, with agricultural exports from the province increasing by 14% in value compared to 2022," he continued.

"In terms of weight, agricultural exports also reached 345,000 tons, an increase of 15% compared to 2022," he added.

Fathi noted that dried fruits, pastries, chocolate, grain products, processed foods, medicinal flowers and plants, animal products, dairy products, and fruits and vegetables were among the most exported agricultural products and products from East Azerbaijan last year.

"The export potential of various products to other countries in the East Azerbaijan horticulture sector is very high, such that the province is one of the leading exporters in world markets due to the high quality of its horticultural products such as raisins and apples," he continued. "The price of horticultural products such as apples is about 20% higher than that of competitors, and studies show that more than 40% of the province's horticultural products have export potential."

"The value share of East Azerbaijan's agricultural product exports from the country is 7.5%, and the weight share of the province's agricultural product exports from the country is 3.9%," the official said.

"The average export value of each kilogram of agricultural products from East Azerbaijan is one dollar," Fathi concluded.
