11 tons of caviar exported so far, IFO head says

Tehran – The head of Iran’s Fisheries Organization (IFO) Hossein Hosseini announced that the country has managed to export 11 tons of caviar to target countries since the start of the Iranian calendar year.
Some 11 tons of caviar have been so far exported through both official and passenger channels this year, Hossein said in a recent interview.
Iran has produced 22 tons of caviar and 4,700 tons of sturgeon meat this year, with plans to increase production to 20,000 tons of sturgeon meat and 100 tons of caviar under the Seventh Development Plan, he added.
Amid concerns about China's growing dominance in the global caviar market, Hosseini highlighted Iran's continued strength in producing high-quality caviar, particularly from the prized beluga sturgeon, one of the 14 to 15 sturgeon species inhabiting the Caspian Sea.
