Soil Doctors training workshop underway in northern Iran

Golestan – An international training workshop titled “Soil Doctors”, a global initiative by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to improve soil health, kicked off in the northern province of Golestan on Wednesday.
The two-day event brings together agricultural experts, researchers, and cooperatives from nine Iranian provinces.
Iran joined the Soil Doctors program, currently implemented in 22 countries, in May 2023. The project is being rolled out in three phases across Iran, with nine provinces serving as pilot regions.
The inaugural workshop featured presentations by FAO representatives and high-level Iranian officials, including Safdar Niazi Shahraki, Deputy Minister of Water and Soil.
The workshop is featuring the project's objectives, methodology, and the importance of soil health.
