Tehran – The 9th International Poultry Veterinary Congress, organized and sponsored by the Razi Vaccine & Serum Research Institute (RVSRI), held recently at the Olympic Hotel in Tehran, brought together leading figures in the poultry and veterinary sectors, including the head of Iran’s Veterinary Organization, Dr. Alireza Rafiee-Pour, alongside academics, industry professionals, and researchers.

The congress underscored Razi Institute’s pivotal role in advancing veterinary science and vaccine development.

A dedicated exhibition running alongside the event provided a platform for Razi representatives to engage with faculty, students, and industry leaders, showcasing the latest breakthroughs in vaccine production and fostering collaboration.

In his opening address, Rafiee-Pour highlighted the critical importance of domestic vaccine production in bolstering national health and food security. He commended Razi Institute as the cornerstone of Iran’s veterinary sector, celebrating its century-long legacy of innovation and service.

“Currently, 35% of the poultry industry’s vaccine needs are met through domestic production,” Rafiee-Pour said. “Our goal is to increase this to 45-50% in the near future, reducing reliance on imports and strengthening self-sufficiency.”

He emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration between the Iran Veterinary Organization, research institutions like Razi, and the private sector to ensure sustainable vaccine production and technological advancement. Rafiee-Pour also praised Razi Institute’s contributions to vaccine technology, which have positioned it as a leader in the field.
