Iran unveils 950 new seed varieties

Karaj – Iran’s Seed and Plant Certification and Registration Research Institute has revealed 950 newly approved agricultural and horticultural seed varieties, the head of the Institute announced.
Describing the new seed varieties as the culmination of a decade-long evaluation process, Mohammad Hassan Assareh said that nearly 1,350 varieties underwent rigorous technical testing over the past ten years, with 950 ultimately passing the National Variety Introduction Committee's stringent standards.
He further emphasized that researchers invest 10 to 20 years of scientific work to develop each new variety, reflecting the complex and time-consuming nature of seed innovation.
