250,000 ha of orchards in Iran dedicated to apple cultivation

250,000 hectares of orchards in Iran are dedicated to apple cultivation, with an annual harvest of three to four million tons, according to the Deputy Minister of Cold and Dried Fruits of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Nabi Hadavand made this statement during a visit by an Iraqi trade and administrative delegation to a fruit sorting and packaging unit in Urmia.
He added that West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, and Tehran are the major apple-producing provinces in the country, with West Azerbaijan being the leading producer.
Highlighting that Iran is one of the least competitive and most important exporters of apples to Iraq, Hadavand continued that the Ministry of Agriculture is seeking to expand exports to this country and introduce them to other agricultural capacities in the country.
