Mazandaran province in northern Iran has witnessed a significant boost in kiwi and citrus fruit exports since the start of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2024), according to Babak Mo'meni, Head of the province's Agricultural Organization.

Mo'meni said that a total of 125,700 tons of kiwi and citrus fruits have been exported from the region. This breaks down to over 76,000 tons of oranges and more than 25,000 tons of tangerines.

The official highlighted that citrus fruits made up a larger portion of the exports at over 101,000 tons, with kiwi fruits contributing over 24,000 tons. Notably, India received a significant portion of the kiwi exports, with 10,256 tons shipped there.

Mo'meni compared this year's figures to the previous Iranian calendar year (ending March 19, 2024) and noted an increase in exports. He stated that orange exports surpassed 48,000 tons last year, while tangerine exports reached over 13,000 tons.
