Tehran – Iran has unveiled Asia's first indigenous potato planter, a domestically designed and manufactured machine aimed at boosting agricultural mechanization, improving planting efficiency, and reducing production costs.

 

Developed by engineers in Faradonbeh, the new planter was introduced at the start of the potato planting season in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Iran's leading producer of certified seed potatoes.

 

The machine is designed to deliver greater planting precision, faster field operations, and more uniform seed placement, helping farmers increase productivity while lowering labor and input costs.

 

The province has also expanded cultivation of water-efficient potato varieties to improve water-use efficiency and support more sustainable production amid growing pressure on water resources.

 

Officials said the new technology underscores Iran's commitment to innovation-driven agriculture, leveraging domestic engineering capabilities to accelerate the adoption of smart farming practices and strengthen Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari's position as the country's premier seed potato production hub.
