Iran’s Mazandaran boosts tangerine, kiwi exports
Mazandaran - Iran’s northern Mazandaran province has exported 7,564 tons of tangerines and 4,680 tons of kiwifruit since the start of October, as the citrus harvest season gains momentum.
Hamid Naderian, head of plant protection at the Mazandaran Agricultural Organization, said 365 shipments of mandarins had been dispatched to international markets, along with 207 shipments of kiwifruit, including 82 destined for India.
The province expects to produce 3.4 million tons of citrus fruits this year, including 500,000 tons of mandarins, with oranges and other citrus varieties accounting for the remainder, he said.
The official added that efforts are underway to remove production bottlenecks and sustain export growth.
Separately, provincial agricultural officials have forecast citrus production of at least 3 million tons this year.
