Tehran – Iran and Brazil have called for innovative solutions to expand bilateral trade, overcome commercial barriers and strengthen cooperation in agriculture, livestock and food security.

The issue was discussed at a meeting last week between Parviz Jafari, head of Iran’s Government Livestock Affairs Support Company, and Brazil’s ambassador to Tehran.

Jafari stressed the need to diversify trade beyond Brazilian exports to Iran, highlighting opportunities to increase Iranian exports to Brazil, use barter arrangements and pursue joint investment to build more balanced and sustainable economic ties.

The Brazilian ambassador also voiced support for exploring practical and creative mechanisms to facilitate trade and expand economic cooperation despite existing restrictions.

Drawing on his years of living in Iran, the ambassador said his firsthand experience of Iranian society and everyday life differed markedly from the picture presented by some foreign media outlets.

He added that he had witnessed no shortages of essential goods during periods of crisis, even in remote areas, and expressed a desire to share a more accurate account of conditions in Iran with the Brazilian public.

Jafari attributed Iran’s resilience to domestic production, national solidarity and cooperation across supply chains, saying these factors had helped maintain the availability of essential goods despite sanctions and crises.

Both sides expressed hope that continued dialogue, specialized working groups and information sharing would pave the way for new trade and investment opportunities and deeper cooperation in agriculture and livestock production.
