Bushehr fishermen land over 1,000 tons of shrimp
Bushehr – Some 1,000 fishing vessels have harvested more than 1,000 tons of shrimp off Bushehr Province since the Persian Gulf season opened on July 29, an official announced.
Aqil Amini, head of the provincial fisheries department, said early-season daily catches exceeded 1,000 tons, reflecting strong fisher participation and the region's healthy marine stocks.
The season's duration will be determined after a final stock assessment from the national shrimp research institute, he added.
“Authorities will consider closing the season when catch rates fall to around 40 kilograms per fishing effort.”
