Hamedan - The head of Nahavand's Agricultural Department has announced the completion of the spring harvest of asparagus, a high-value medicinal and edible crop, from 8.5 hectares of farmland in the west central Hamedan Province.

Renowned for its exceptional water-use efficiency, asparagus is increasingly being promoted as a sustainable alternative to water-intensive crops.

Tavakol Abshenas said the crop, harvested in spring and autumn, is widely known as "green gold" for its medicinal benefits and strong economic value.

“With a productive lifespan of up to 60 years, growing export potential, and a stable market, asparagus is becoming a key crop in efforts to modernize cultivation patterns and boost farmers' incomes in Hamedan Province.”
