Nairobi – The seventh session of the Iran-Kenya Joint Cooperation Commission officially opened in Nairobi on Monday, with high-level delegations from both nations in attendance.

Iran’s Minister of Agriculture, Gholamreza Nouri, and Kenya’s Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, co-chaired the inaugural session.

The two-day forum aims to strengthen bilateral ties, with a focus on agricultural collaboration, trade, and economic development. The last such meeting—the sixth edition of the commission—was held over a decade ago in Tehran in 2014.

Kenya, often regarded as East Africa’s economic hub and a gateway to the continent, has been expanding its partnerships with key global players, including Iran.

As part of the agenda, technical discussions took place on Monday, August 21, followed by a ministerial meeting on Wednesday, August 23, where officials are expected to sign key cooperation agreements.

The Iranian delegation emphasized the importance of revitalizing joint initiatives, while Kenyan representatives highlighted opportunities for increased trade and investment.
