Gilan – Iran’s fisheries authorities have released 600,000 whitefish fingerlings into the Taleh Abad River in Bandar Anzali as part of efforts to restore Caspian Sea fish stocks and support sustainable fisheries.

 

The Gilan Fisheries Department said the fingerlings were released under expert supervision, with 350,000 supplied by the Isargaran fishing cooperative and 250,000 by the Motahari cooperative in Bandar Anzali.

 

The initiative is part of ongoing restocking programs aimed at protecting native species, preserving biodiversity, and strengthening natural fish populations in the Caspian Sea.

 

Officials said artificial breeding and restocking are essential tools for maintaining aquatic resources, supporting local fishing communities, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the fisheries sector.
