Iran dry tea output exceeds 25,000 tons

Iran's tea industry is experiencing a surge in production, with farmers surpassing the 25,000-ton mark for dry tea output in the current calendar year.
According to Habib Jahansaz, head of Iran's Tea Organization (ITO), the country has successfully produced 25,856 tons of dry tea from 114,914 tons of fresh tea leaves purchased from farmers. This remarkable feat demonstrates the industry's growth and potential.
The tea harvest season in Iran traditionally begins in early May across the northern provinces of Gilan and Mazandaran. These regions play a pivotal role in the country's tea production, with over 55,000 families cultivating tea on approximately 28,000 hectares of farmland. Together, Gilan and Mazandaran account for a substantial 90 percent of Iran's total tea output.
The impressive increase in dry tea production is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Iran's tea farmers. As the industry continues to expand and modernize, the future looks promising for Iran's tea exports and domestic consumption.
