Iran and Cuba criticize US sanctions, highlight scientific collaboration

At a recent meeting of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), Iran and Cuba condemned the negative effects of the US sanctions on their biological research and development.

Representatives from Iran's Razi Institute and Pasteur Institute showcased their successful collaborations with countries such as Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Uzbekistan, and Cuba. These partnerships have led to advancements in vaccine manufacturing and training programs.

Dr. Rainak Ghaderi of Razi Institute highlighted the institute's significant contributions to disease eradication and its role in conducting international training workshops. Dr. Keyhan Azadmanesh of the Pasteur Institute emphasized the importance of international cooperation, particularly with Cuba, in addressing global health challenges like hepatitis B and COVID-19.

Both countries called upon the international community to assist in overcoming the obstacles posed by U.S. sanctions. They reaffirmed their commitment to sharing biological knowledge and resources to promote global health and well-being.
