‘Protecting Caspian Sea a global imperative’

Tehran - Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Hossein Hosseini stressed the urgent need to address the critical threats facing the Caspian Sea, namely overfishing and pollution.

Addressing the 8th meeting of the Caspian Sea Commission, Hosseini emphasized that protecting this vital ecosystem is not merely an Iranian responsibility, but a global imperative for both economic and ecological sustainability.

He reaffirmed Iran's unwavering commitment to all resolutions of the Commission for the Protection of the Living Resources of the Caspian Sea.

Hosseini underscored the importance of concerted action by all member states, emphasizing the need to leverage all available resources and capacities to safeguard this shared natural treasure.

“Recognizing the crucial role of public awareness and engagement, Hosseini called for the utilization of specialized media and the active involvement of non-governmental organizations in promoting environmental stewardship and fostering a collective commitment to Caspian Sea conservation.”

Iran, the deputy minister reiterated, will continue to actively participate in research efforts, adhere to all expert recommendations, and collaborate closely with other nations to ensure the long-term health and prosperity of the Caspian Sea for generations to come.
