Razi Institute co-organizes training workshop on BWC national implementation

Tehran – The Razi Vaccine & Serum Research Institute, in collaboration with the Pasteur Institute of Iran, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized a one-day training workshop titled "National Implementation of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC)" at the Ministry of Defense.
The workshop featured a keynote video message from the Head of the BWC Implementation Support Unit, followed by expert discussions on critical topics in disarmament and international security, with a focus on Iran’s proactive role in these efforts.
Key sessions included an overview of the BWC’s framework and its core articles; Evolving trends in international biological security regimes; Opportunities for international collaboration under Article X (peaceful cooperation in biotechnology); and Best practices for Biological Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs).
In the opening remarks, speakers emphasized Iran’s commitment to peaceful biological activities and compliance with the BWC, reinforcing the nation’s dedication to global non-proliferation efforts. The workshop provided a platform for knowledge exchange among stakeholders to strengthen national implementation of the Convention.
