Over 2,300 tons of lemons, dates exported from south to neighboring countries
Jahrom – More than 1,500 tons of Lisbon lemons and 800 tons of dates have been exported from Jahrom County in Fars Province over the past month, according to the local director of Agriculture Department.
Sajjad Ghana'atiyan underscored the importance of protecting farmers' livelihoods and noted the continued export of agricultural products, with priority given to Lisbon lemons and dates preserved in cold storage.
Despite challenging regional conditions, the shipments have been sent to Azerbaijan, Russia, India, Afghanistan, and Armenia, he said.
The official further explained that the county's plant health quarantine expert is responsible for inspecting cold storage facilities and export consignments, thoroughly examining shipments for pests and diseases while verifying product integrity—up to the stages of approval and loading.
Phytosanitary certification and quarantine monitoring procedures are being carried out in full compliance with required standards, Ghana'atiyan added. “Strong demand for the loaded products in foreign markets, he noted, is a clear testament to the superior quality of the county's agricultural output.”
Reaffirming the core mission of the Agriculture Ministry, the official said that ensuring food security, sustaining agricultural exports, and supplying both domestic and international markets in strict adherence to global standards remain the organization's primary objectives.
