Hormozgan exports 680,000 tons of agricultural products
Hormozgan – The southern Hormozgan Province exported 680,000 tons of agricultural products worth USD 757 million to global markets from the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year 1404 (ends on March 20) through late December, the Director of Trade Development at the Hormozgan Agricultural Organization announced.
Ali Jamei’ said the exports marked a 26.8 percent increase in volume and a 31.5 percent rise in value compared with the same period last year, when 535,000 tons worth USD 575 million were shipped abroad.
He noted that the exports mainly included greenhouse products such as eggplant, onion, pepper, tomato, and watermelon, along with processed and packaged field, horticultural, and fisheries products.
“The main destinations were Persian Gulf countries, Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, China, and Central Asia.”
Jamei’ attributed the growth to improved export infrastructure, targeted market planning, and higher production efficiency, adding that the results underscore Hormozgan’s strong role in agricultural production, exports, and foreign exchange earnings for the country.
