Annual export of Damask rose from Lorestan province stands at 4,000 tons

Some 4,000 tons of Damask rose, known as Gol-e Mohammadi in Iran, are exported annually from the western Lorestan province, a provincial official said.

Mohammad-Reza Beyranvand, a horticulture expert in Lorestan Province, said, "The area under rose cultivation in Lorestan Province is about 1,000 hectares, and 4 tons of rose are harvested per hectare."

"Due to the province's altitude above sea level and the semi-dry cultivation of this product in Lorestan, a high-quality product is produced,” he added.

Beyranvand said, "Annually, about 4,000 tons of Damask rose and about 800 liters of pure rose essence are exported from Lorestan Province, mainly to Persian Gulf countries."
