500 solar panels power up nomadic regions in Sistan-Baluchestan
Tehran – Authorities have deployed 500 solar-powered lighting systems for off-grid nomadic communities in Iran's southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan province, in a move to enhance living standards and security, an official announced.
Shirzad Kamali, director-general of the province's Nomadic Affairs Department, said stable lighting remains a critical need in remote areas. The solar units, he explained, can provide continuous light during unexpected emergencies or severe weather that makes access to nomadic regions difficult.
"Providing services to nomads is among our top priorities," he said, emphasizing that the project reflects the department's commitment to reducing deprivation and ensuring equal access to amenities regardless of where citizens reside.
The official also noted that during power outages or when the national grid is inaccessible, the solar panels serve as a vital backup light source.
