Agriculture Ministry launches smart farming system in third phase of crop pattern reform

Tehran - Iran’s Agriculture Ministry is set to introduce an advanced smart monitoring system for its national crop pattern initiative, aiming to boost water efficiency and agricultural productivity, a senior official announced.
Gholamreza Golmohammadi, Head of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO), said on Tuesday that the third edition of Iran’s crop pattern plan has been officially distributed to provinces nationwide.
The updated framework emphasizes water conservation and operational efficiency, leveraging an intelligent monitoring system integrated with the existing "My Farm" platform. This digital tool will provide real-time tracking of cultivated areas, crop types, and farm management practices, enabling data-driven decision-making for sustainable agriculture.
Golmohammadi added that draft crop patterns for horticultural and aquaculture products have been finalized and submitted to specialized agencies for approval. Furthermore, the ministry has released the first volume of an instructional guide on enhancing crop productivity, supporting farmers in adopting optimized practices.
