Iran non-oil exports rise amid sharp drop in agricultural imports

Tehran – Iran’s non-oil trade reached 61.02 million tons, valued $34.175 billion, during the first four months of the current Iranian year, according to data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

Non-oil exports rose by 1.46% in volume compared to the same period last year, but the value of these exports declined by 5.51%, reflecting continued price fluctuations in global markets.

Imports, meanwhile, showed a more pronounced downward trend, falling 3.23% in volume and 14.20% in value.

Notably, agricultural imports accounted for only 5.5% of total imports during this period — signaling a significant drop that may point to increased domestic production, tighter import controls, or shifting trade priorities.

The report also shows that 17.4 million tons of petrochemical products were exported, worth $6.89 billion. However, both the volume and value of petrochemical exports declined — by 8.3% and 10.22%, respectively — compared to the same four-month span last year.
